"The new team aims to change the country, to improve its transparency and to eliminate corruption,” Jaresko said.

“The members of the team are ready to deal with the challenges Ukraine faces today," she said, according to Ukrainian television news service TSN.

“This is a government of professionals and technocrats, and we intend to work.

"I’ve been living in Ukraine for 22 years and until this day I was the head of a large company that controlled three investment funds.

"I am honored to be appointed minister of finance. My experience and my understanding of the situation give me the opportunity, desire and inspiration to work for the benefit of Ukraine."

Jaresko added that she was grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Ukraine.
