Russia pulls over 300 tanks to military base near Ukraine border – Poroshenko
President Petro Poroshenko said that before martial law was introduced in Ukraine, Russia had pulled over 300 main battle tanks to a military base located just 18 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border.
“Why would they pull more than 300 tanks to one base (I showed a satellite imagery). It is located 18 km from our border. They've brought the ammo, they've brought the troops. What was I supposed to do?” Poroshenko said, speaking at a meeting with teachers and students in Dnipro, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
The president stressed the importance of imposing martial law in 10 regions of Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported, after the Russian attack on Ukrainian naval boats in the Kerch Strait area, martial law was introduced in 10 regions of Ukraine on November 26 for a period of 30 days. The special regime covers regions directly bordering with Russia as well as those adjacent to the Transnistrian segment of the Ukraine-Moldova border, as well as along the Black and Azov coastlines.
