Kerry: Hollande and Merkel receive Putin's proposal to resolve conflict in Donbas
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande have received proposals from Russian President Vladimir Putin and prepared their own ideas on achieving peace in Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Thursday at a briefing with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, according to Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.
"Merkel and Hollande have received proposals from Russian President Vladimir Putin, but they haven’t analyzed them yet,” Kerry said.
“We only read the text [of the Russian proposals] today, but in the afternoon it was announced that [Hollande and Merkel] would make counter-proposals. We haven’t yet discussed this issue with them," Kerry said.
Kerry also said that he planned to continue discussions on a peaceful settlement of situation in Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, and on Monday he would meet with Merkel.
