“Their relations are complicated, there is no secret..."

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk believes that the disagreement between President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko and Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko exists only on ideological level, as of today.

He said this in an interview to “Izvestiya” newspaper.

“Their relations are complicated, there is no secret. The President cannot keep silence, because Ukraine is not a close corporation. Presently, the conflict exists at the ideological level”, A.Yatseniuk said.

According to him, one side wants to act ideologically, while the other prefers populism. “For instance, the price of gas for Ukrainian consumers must be gradually increased. But the government does not allow doing that. They argue that the Ukrainian population consumes natural gas, extracted in Ukraine. But what does it mean – is it cheaper? Besides, a pensioner and a millionaire cannot pay the same price for gas”, A.Yatseniuk stressed.

“The government reasons: now we will sell the remaining state property, finally loose the supervision over strategic enterprises, but we will find a source to replenish the state budget. All this will result in the following: the regular Cabinet of Ministers will begin its mornings from calling oligarchs: “Will you give us natural gas today? And oil? What about electricity?”, the Speaker believes.
