MP explains another PACE move against Russian aggression
Ukrainian MP Volodymyr Ariev, who is also vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, chairman of the PACE Committee on Culture, Education, Science and Media, has said last night, PACE voted for another report – the annual report of the monitoring committee demanding that Russia comply with all resolutions of the Assembly regarding military aggression against Ukraine.
"In the evening, PACE made a 'control shot' at Russia: they voted for another report – the annual report of the monitoring committee. Requirements: to comply with all Assembly resolutions regarding military aggression against Ukraine, repeating the demand (second time in a day) to release the ships and crew captured in the Kerch Strait and to stop hampering free navigation," Ariev wrote on Facebook.
PACE condemned the lack of progress on the issue of the liberation of Ukrainians illegally detained on the territory of the Russian Federation, the illegally annexed Crimea, and the occupied Donbas, and in this context, expressed strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
"I don't remember if PACE spoke the same way on the same topic twice during the rest of the session. And here, it's twice a day! So, we did well. Even a Russian provocateur was deployed to emphasize the importance of events. Now, we can go home," he said.
