Ukraine builds up troops, air force grouping on potentially threatening directions from Russia – Poroshenko
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said Ukraine has built up the grouping of troops and air force on potentially threatening directions from the Russian Federation, as well as increased the combat strength of its anti-aircraft missile forces.
"Respective groupings of troops have been built up on the potentially threatening directions. The air defense system has been enhanced. The aircraft fleet and the combat strength of the anti-aircraft missile forces have been increased," he said at a meeting with senior officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kyiv, an UNIAN correspondent reported.
"The Anti-Terrorist Operation was reformatted into the Joint Forces Operation. Significant work has been done to reform the Armed Forces of Ukraine in keeping with NATO standards," Poroshenko said.
According to the president, Ukraine has also formed a number of new combat brigades and military units of operational, logistic and technical support.
