The analyst spoke of the growing number of Russian-speakers in Ukraine who have a patriotic stance, the difficult choice for those in eastern Ukraine whether they should support a pro-Russian movement or keep their minds with Ukraine, Ukraine Today reports.

As for the government-controlled strategic port city of Mariupol in southeastern Ukraine, Kuzio noted that Russia would have to trigger a full-scale invasion to seize it, as a few thousand troops in the area are not capable of fulfilling such a task.

In Kuzio’s opinion, Russian President Vladimir Putin will keep the Ukrainian conflict running to mobilize the population around the ideas of fighting “Ukrainian fascists” and NATO in Ukraine.
