Israel considers Crimea to be Ukrainian, but won’t join in sanctions against Russia
Israel fully supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not recognize the Russian annexation of the Ukrainian territory of Crimea, Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Eliav Belotserkovsky said in an interview with Ukrainian online magazine Focus on Tuesday.
However, Israel is not planning to join in the sanctions against Russia.
"As for the sanctions, it was an initiative of the Western countries,” Belotserkovsky said.
“We have our own policy with regard to Russia. We hope that the conflict in the Donbas will be resolved peacefully, and at this stage we do not believe that Israel's accession to the sanctions would be appropriate in order to achieve this goal.”
