Fake letter from US senator targets Ukrainian PM

09:30, 08 July 2015

A sham letter where Richard Durbin, US Democratic Senator, “tells” Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk how to run his government was “obviously written by somebody with a tenuous grasp of the English language”, according to the Senator’s representative.

“Senator Durbin has been outspoken in his criticism of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and supportive of Ukrainian efforts to reform their economy and defend their nation,” said Durbin’s representative, adding that the letter is a forgery.

Durbin, himself, found out about the letter’s existence from Russian media, which were asking for comments.

The Senator’s bogus title of "Assistant Minority Leader" was one of the most obvious giveaways indicating forgery, according to Ukraine Today.

The source of the hoax document remains unknown.
