Ukraine demands trilateral energy deal
Ukraine's PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the need of signing a trilateral energy security agreement to ensure Russian gas supplies through Ukraine to the EU over winter months.
“We would like to underline one more time that we guarantee gas transit, we guarantee energy security. And for these guarantees to work, we need a three-way protocol and a bilateral agreement," said Yatsenyuk on Tuesday, during a government board meeting with top energy officials, Ukraine Today reports.
The prime minister also accused Russia of artificially raising the gas prices for Ukraine, “Any Russian discounts are a pittance. If the gas price around the world is $ 250, the Russians think they can sell gas at USD 300 and say that they gave a USD 50 discount...”
