President now has 15 days to consider the proposal
At a mass media briefing on Wednesday, Iryna Gerashchenko, Presidential Press Secretary, told journalists Victor Yushchenko had received a proposal from Ukraine’s new parliamentary coalition to appoint Viktor Yanukovych prime minister, according to the President’s press-office.
“Yesterday, the State Secretariat received this letter. According to the Constitution, the President now has fifteen days to consider the proposal,” she said.
Mrs. Gerashchenko said the Head of State welcomed their decision to act in accordance with the Constitution.
“The President reiterates his intention to make politicians respect the Constitution and adhere to the country’s laws when forming a legitimate coalition,” she added.
