The faction of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls on President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to prevent a state upheaval in Ukraine.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko read the corresponding letter today at an open session of the faction. The document was unanimously approved by all the BYT faction deputies.
The letter reads that the state upheaval, which happened when the VR speaker was illegally elected, became the first phase of a deep crisis in the country. “A communist-criminal coalition majority was created by means of bribes and treason. The forces that entered [this coalition] practice an aggressive, anti-state, anti-Ukrainian, and anti-democratic position”, the document reads.
According to the letter, should the real course of these political forces be put into practice, Ukraine will face the fact of losing its state independence, our national self-identity, and the justice for the people and European aspirations will be given up for lost.
The BYT faction calls on V.Yushchenko to prevent events from developing on this scenario. “You have legal rights, constitutional grounds, and, in this situation, it is your duty to announce a pre-schedule parliamentary election”, reads the open letter.
The BYT lawmakers are convinced there are three reasons for dissolving the parliament. The first reason is the political necessity. The principle of democracy was destroyed in the Ukrainian parliament with big money. The second reason, according to BYT, is that the world democratic countries will not understand the President’s inactivity in the situation when a country, which chose a European path of developing, will radically alter its foreign policy priorities.
The third reason for dissolving the parliament is a moral necessity. The BYT deputies believe that if democrats “swallow” the large-scale corruption and revision of principles after the election, they will forever bury the belief in truth and justice in the souls of the Ukrainian nation.
