People’s Self-Defense movement insists on preserving the presidential-parliamentary form of government in Ukraine.
People’s Self-Defense leader, Interior Minister Yuri Lutsenko claimed this to a news conference in UNIAN today.
According to him, People’s Self-Defense will not support the amendments to constitution, proposed by BYuT, the Presidential Secretariat, or the Party of Regions. “We will support the Constitution of Ukraine, and the amendments that will finally stop the chaos, dual power, and internal squabbles between authorities, elected by people”, he said.
At the same time, Yuri Lutsenko stressed that the People’s Self-Defense will insist on preserving the presidential-parliamentary form of government. According to him, under conditions of divided powers, political corruption, and dependence on foreign centers, a parliamentary republic will be a direct threat to the unity and existence of Ukraine.
