President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko rules out early parliamentary election in Ukraine.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Victor Yushchenko claimed this to a press conference today after long consultations with parliamentary factions leaders and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk.

According to Victor Yushchenko, he understands that a number of political forces have been striving, as of today, to provoke an early parliamentary election. The President stressed he is categorically opposed to such “initiatives”.

“I’m alarmed that the topic of elections, amendments to Constitution, and other political adventures, turn a big attention of incumbent authorities”, Victor Yushchenko said.

According to him, regardless of the type of elections – local or parliamentary, they will not contribute to development of the country.

“I’m confident that the country needs calm, and, first of all, the political calm”, the President said.

Victor Yushchenko claimed that the Kyiv local elections were artificially initiated.

The President noted he will do his best to prevent carrying out an early parliamentary election, as he is confident that the ruling coalition must shoulder responsibility and work for the sake of nation.
