"There are moments in the life of a country where you [Ukraine] need unity,” said Schulz, according to Ukraine Today. “What we learned from them there is a deep split between the political tendencies, but the overwhelming majority of world leaders stick to the idea not to go to early elections to find really with the acting parliament a solution.”

“I thought that this is a progress because for the time-being the country needs everything but a long lasting election campaign," he said.

Schulz added: "It is not forbidden to try to understand the Russians. To understand the Russians may not say you agree with them but first of all to understand is a good instrument to develop for example, a counter strategy. If you don't understand one another, person or a country, you have no chance either to cooperate or refuse."
