U.N. demands Nadia Savchenko be released
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has insisted captured Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko must be released, according to Volodymyr Yelchenko, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ukraine Today reports.
"Russia's brutal violation of universal norms as well as Nadiya's PACE immunity is a clear signal to the international community on the inadmissibility of violating fundamental principles and norms by the country which is one of the UN Security Council permanent members," Yelchenko said, according to Ukraine Today.
Ukraine’s envoy to UN added that Ban Ki Moon assured him he would assist in the freeing of Savchenko.
