Victor Yushchenko and Security Chief Ihor Drizhchany have discussed interethnic conflicts in Crimea, particularly last week’s confrontation at Bakhchisaray’s market, according to the President’s press-office.

The Head of State said this problem must be resolved by politicians, not law enforcement agencies. He urged the Security Service to prevent such incidents and make sure all participants of such conflicts observe law. Mr. Yushchenko thanked police and security officers for helping avoid extreme confrontations but believes they should severely punish those who incite conflicts.
