The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYuT) and the Party of Regions (PR) together and their leaders Yulia Tymoshenko and Victor Yanukovych are the most influential political forces in Ukraine.

These are results of the poll carried out by “FOM-Ukraina” Ltd. and forarded to UNIAN.

If the Ukrainian parliamentary election took place on August 24, 2008, some 23.4% of Ukrainians would vote for the BYuT. Some 20.3% of voters would support the Party of Regions, which is at the second place in the rating. The third and fourth positions with some 4.6% would be occupied by the OU-PSD and the Communist Party of Ukraine respectively. The Lytvyn’s Bloc would receive some 2.8% of votes.

Speaking about the dynamics of the people’s confidence in political forces during the year, director general “FOM-Ukraina” Ltd. Oleksandr Buhalov noted that the BYuT rating has discreased (in January some 29.2% of those polled preferred this political force), but, at the same time, he pointed out a gradual tendency towards increasing the party`s popularity at present.

The expert also noted that OU-PSD has been also loosing its positions (in January it had some 8.8%), and became equal to the Communist party by popularity.

The poll was carried out on August 8-24 of the year 2008 in 160 settlements of Ukraine by means of interview. On the whole, 2000 people were polled. The error margin makes +/- 2%.
