Yushchenko calls on government to pay off gas debt to Russia
Says Ukraine treats with understanding the necessity to rise natural gas prices
President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko calls on the government to stipulate funds in the next year’s state budget to pay off the gas debt of 90ies to Russia.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this speaking to residents of Vodyanyky village of the Zolotonoshski district in the Cherkassy Oblast on Friday.
The President stressed that it is necessary to accumulate 7.5 billion hryvnias, and to pay off the gas debt to Russia next year.
In the opinion of Victor Yushchenko, it will allow to begin market relations in with RF on the issue of the Russian Black Sea Fleet stay in Ukraine [the fleet does not pay money for leasing the Sevastopol base, and leases the land for repayment of the Ukrainian debt].
At the same time, the President stressed it will correspond to strategic and neighbor relations between the two states. He added that Ukraine treats with understanding the necessity to rise natural gas prices, considering the growth of gas prices at the world markets.
