Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko is confident that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has already made decision to announce a snap parliamentary poll.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko said this to a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.
“I’m confident that the President of Ukraine made decision to announce a snap poll, in order to destroy the democratic government at any price, and, by doing so, to destroy me as a hypothetic rival at the regular presidential election”, Yulia Tymoshenko pointed out.
The Prime Minister called on Victor Yushchenko not to destroy the democratic team and the Euro-integration strategy of Ukraine for the sake of his “ambitions and phobias”.
In her opinion, today there are still opportunities to resume the democratic coalition, which may be joined by the Lytvyn’s Bloc faction.
“Being the Prime Minister, I’m not interested in a snap poll and collapse of the democratic coalition, because it’s illogical. If the President will lead the parliament to a snap poll, I want that he clearly realize that the ideological democratic majority will disappear in parliament namely because people’s trust to him fell to a critically low level. And his team will not be able to achieve the result they showed at the previous election”, she added.
Yulia Tymoshenko stressed that she will defend the idea of resuming the democratic coalition until she understands that “destructive tendencies in the President defeat his love to Ukraine”.
“As soon as I feel that, I will begin to look for other ways. And now we are working over any means to entice the President and his team back into the coalition, we with Volodymyr Lytvyn have been busy with that from morning till evening. If we fail to attract him back, we will think over creating forced unions to prevent a snap poll”, the Prime Minister claimed.
At the same time, she emphasized that the majority of OU-PSD faction lawmakers did not support the faction’s decision to quit the democratic coalition.
“I know that practically all members of the OU-PSD faction support restoring the democratic coalition except for several MPs provocateurs”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.
