Yekhanurov, Vasiunyk initiate creating new party
Lutsenko may head it
Ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov and top deputy President’s chief of staff Ivan Vasiunyk initiate creating a new political party in Ukraine, of a right-liberal or liberal-conservative ideology.
According to Kommersant-Ukraine newspaper, lawmaker Mykola Katerynchuk, Christian-Democratic Union party leader Volodymyr Stretovych, ex-deputy Prime Minister Viacheslav Kyrylenko are also involved in the process of creating the new party. “All of them confirmed that these projects have already been discussed”, the newspaper reads.
According to the information of a source from Our Ukraine block, the talks are being carried out with Yuri Lutsenko and Vitaliy Klitschko.
“I believe, we need a new party with a clear ideology. It’s difficult to say who could head it… It may be Kyrylenko, Stretovych, Khoroshkovskiy [president of Evraz Group], or Tigipko, or, of course, Lutsenko”, MP M.Katerynchuk claimed in an interview to Kommersant.
He does not rule out that this project may be supported by President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, who also needs a party with a certain ideology that he can rely on.
