Party of Regions lawmaker Taras Chornovil surmises that the incident with Victor Yanukovych in Ivano-Frankivsk in the year 2004 was thought out by the Party of Regions headquarters.
He said this to a news conference on Monday, Ukrayinska Pravda reported.
“That time I spoke about the information that I heard and saw at the scene. I still do not know all the details, but I think it was an infernal development by the headquarters, and my presence was also planned by them, considering the particularities of my character”, T.Chornovil said.
“Unfortunately, they planned to gain votes at enmity and opposition. But I may be mistaken”, he added.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Victor Yanukovych was taken to hospital after being hit by an egg during a visit to the west of Ukraine during the presidential campaign in 2004. Mr Yanukovych was one of the front-runners in the presidential election. The event set off recriminations between the Yanukovych camp and the opposition.
