Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko called to President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko in presence of journalists from her cabinet in the governmental building today, but he did not answer the telephone.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko invited journalists to show them her attempt to get in contact with the President to discuss possible restoration of the democratic coalition.
Yulia Tymoshenko telephoned the President by the governmental line, held on the receiver for some time, and hung it up at last. She informed journalists that nobody answered her call.
“This is a direct telephone line for communication with the President. The President always answers this telephone, and the Prime Minister always answers this telephone, under any conditions. It [the telephone] works without secretaries. But, over the last 6 months, this telephone works only towards one direction, because when I pick up the receiver I hear only beeps, and nobody answers”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.
According to the Prime Minister, if the President is absent in his cabinet, his secretary transfers the call to himself and promises to call later. “My calls are not transferred anywhere, nobody communicates. And when all this crisis began, I many times picked up the receiver, but I has never got any answers, any meetings appointed, any dialog”, the Prime Minister pointed out.
