Victor Yushchenko said it was now inexpedient to dispute recent constitutional changes, according to the President’s press-office.

“Today, we should first complete the election process, announce its official results, stabilize parliament and government and only then speak about changes the nation needs to steadily democratize the country and society,” he said.

The President reiterated that Ukraine needed many political, legal and economic innovations but said they could be temporarily postponed in order to resolve more pressing political problems.

“Today, we must all work towards forming a parliamentary majority and government. This is our priority number one,” he said, assuring all that the public mood will always be considered when passing any changes to the constitution.
