EU launches trialogue on visa lib for Ukraine
Inter-institutional talks on granting Ukrainian citizens visa-free travel across the European Union are expected to start Tuesday, February 28, an UNIAN correspondent was told in the EU Council.
"Inter-institutional negotiations (between the European Parliament, EU Council, and the EU Presidency) for the provision of a visa-free regime for Ukraine will start in the afternoon," the statement said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the EU decided that the decision on a visa-free regime for Ukraine could come into force only in conjunction with a visa waiver suspension mechanism.
On February 27, the EU Council adopted a visa waiver suspension mechanism and granted a visa-free travel for Georgian citizens
February 10, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that Ukraine would enjoy the EU visa liberalization as early as in the summer of 2017.
