Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko blames the previous government, which was headed by Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych, for a deliberate destruction of the aviation branch of Ukraine.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this speaking to a government’s session on Wednesday, introducing results of an inspection into activities of the Kharkiv Aircraft Plant and Aviant Kyiv Aircraft-Building Plant, carried out by the Supervision and Revision Department of Ukraine.

“I hope that after the Presidential election, a new President will come, who will be able to appoint, at last, real officials, who do not steal anything and do not cover anybody. I’m confident that such people as the two directors of the aircraft-building plants will be made responsible in line with the law, and rather strictly”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that former Kharkiv Aircraft Plant director Pavlo Naumenko laundered credit and budget means that were allocated for the branch development.

In particular, according to her, 1 billion 750 million hryvnias [~$218 million] were taken out of the circulation of the Kharkiv Aircraft Plant, and nearly 1 billion [~$125 million]– from the Aviant plant. At the same time, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed, both directors were appointed namely by the Yanukovych’s government.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted the due to unprofessional actions of the former directors of the aircraft-building plants, all the international contracts on aircraft-building were disrupted. “The current government has to overcome the crisis that remained after the Yanukovych’s government”, she noted.
