Lytvyn gives Tymoshenko away
The Speaker warned that the politicians will not be allowed in Europe
The controversial draft amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, which were published by mass media, had been agreed by the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Party of Regions.
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn claimed this at a press conference on Tuesday, commenting on the information that, after the coalition between BYuT and Party of Regions collapsed, BYuT began to deny that it had been involved in preparing the constitutional amendments.
According to him, “it was a draft agreed by the two political forces. And this is the truth that everybody knows”, he added.
V.Lytvyn disclosed that he had been proposed to study the draft amendments to the Constitution, though he had been warned not to introduce any changes, because “everything was agreed”.
"Technically, from the legal point of view, it was flawless", he added.
At the same time, V.Lytvyn stressed, after he read the provisions concerning the election of President in parliament and the prolongation of lawmakers` authorities, he said to the initiators that "they should realize they will be able to travel only around the unlimited space of the former USSR, because they will not be allowed in the civilized Europe".
According to V.Lytvyn, his political force did not take part in working out the constitutional amendments.
