Victor Yushchenko has met with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Moroz, according to the President`s press-office.
They spoke about budget issues and tomorrow’s passage of the Holodomor bill.
Mr. Yushchenko said he had recently discussed the 2007 budget with First Deputy Premier Mykola Azarov. Mr. Moroz said he supported most of his conceptual suggestions, particularly in the area of privatization and tax changes.
The President said his bill was aimed at recognizing the Holodomor as genocide. He added he was not going to accuse any country or nation of the crime, "for the famine was engineered by Stalin’s regime."
The Speaker expressed confidence the Verkhovna Rada would pass the bill.
