Victor Yushchenko has written a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych with a request to take additional measures to faster prepare a bill on the transparency of Ukraine’s government and local self-government and also a revised version of the Law on Civil Appeals, according to the President`s press-office.
“The perfection of the legal regulation in this area is very important to promote the observance of the constitutional right of the citizens of Ukraine to obtain information, strengthen democracy, restore the trust of Ukrainians in their government, improve the validity of governmental decisions and ensure that public opinion is considered when making important decisions affecting the country,” he said.
Mr. Yushchenko said he had first written a letter with a request to prepare such a bill in the March of 2005.
“However, the deadline has been postponed many times and thus the bill has not been submitted yet,” he complained.
