A public discussion concerning amendments into constitution should take place before the presidential election.

The press service of the head of the state disclosed to UNIAN that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko said this in the interview to 5 Kanal.

“My principal position is – if we speak about predictable Ukrainian position, we should discuss a content of Constitution before the presidential election...We have to demonstrate  that we write Constitution not for us or for some farfetched behind-the-scenes blackmail process”, said the President.

According to his persuasion, after adopting amendments to Constitution in the parliament, the draft law should be sent for consideration to the Constitutional Court, and after a positive conclusion of the Constitutional Court, it should be sent to all-Ukrainian referendum.

Speaking about the presidential campaign, V. Yushchenko underlined: “I go to election not as a technical candidate….The future of the country will depend most of all from a voter”.
