Parliament refuses to sack Security Chief
The President asked to dismiss Dryzhchany
Ukraine`s parliament today voted not to dismiss the head of the country`s security service, Ihor Dryzhchany, according to RFE/RL.
The motion to dismiss Dryzhchany was submitted to parliament by President Viktor Yushchenko, who is locked in a struggle for influence with the legislature.
Earlier this month, parliament sacked the foreign minister, a Yushchenko ally, but the president issued a decree overturning the dismissal.
