President signs imperative mandate
However "it contradicts democratic norms"
Victor Yushchenko has signed an imperative mandate law, according to the President`s press-office.
“I signed the imperative mandate law [Law on Changes to Ukrainian Laws on the Status of Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Local Councils] because 362 lawmakers had supported this vision of a local deputy’s political will,” he told a news conference on Monday.
The President, however, added that “this group position on the issue contradicts democratic norms.”
