The government sets task to transfer to the world prices on imported gas with minimal losses.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, the Prime Minister claimed this, opening the extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers, devoted to discussing the results of the social-economic development of Ukraine in the first quarter of 2006.
During this process, the Prime Minister said, the government may outline several priority tasks. The first one is to improve the energy consumption, with conducting measures to render the state support to extracting native fuel, diversifying the sources of oil and gas supplies to Ukraine, reducing the need in natural gas due to technological upgrading the power-engineering sphere of economics.
The Prime Minister is convinced that the energy consumption must reduce by 10% by the end of the year.
The second priority, according to Yuri Yekhanurov, is to invigorate the system of forming internal prices on commodities and services. The main problems in this sphere are unfounded privileges on energy carriers for separate categories of consumers and mutual arrears.
