Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych called irresponsible and mistaken the today’s address of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Victor Yanukovych claimed this to a press conference in Khartsyzk city of the Donetsk Oblast.
“In my opinion, it was a mistake of the President to issue this statement”, the Prime Minister said. He noted he could not read the whole President’s statement, but read it “with one eye” when he was sitting at a session. However, according to him, the conclusion that the government does not fulfill its task concerning the social defense and the economic growth is “unfounded”.
According to Victor Yanukovych, to draw this conclusion, “one should return for a year or two ago, and look at the year 2005, when the President together with his coalition was responsible for the state of the country”. “To look on the year 2006, and make a comparative table, and compare the economic showings, and recall the songs of praise for that-time government, kisses and hugs. We saw it, and the whole country was watching it”, the Prime Minister said. Victor Yanukovych believes the President must be more objective and just, if he is a responsible President.
“And I would not like to listen to unfair insults of such a form”, Victor Yanukovych said.
According to the information of the Prime Minister, at the recent meeting with the President he again proposed Victor Yushchenko “a system of work with the government, the coalition, the Verkhovna Rada, that is, to work out regulations and to work systematically, as it is impossible to work so any more”, he said. He emphasized that during 8 months there were no meetings with the government. “What is it – a government of another country, or is it a government that was elected not in Ukraine?”, Victor Yanukovych asked.
Speaking about the parties, which are not satisfied with results of the parliamentary elections of the year 2006, Victor Yanukovych noted that there is the Constitution, in line with which the regular election is scheduled for 2011, and the Constitution must be fulfilled.
According to him, “the President has an opportunity, and we discussed it at the recent meeting, to head the process of the economic growth”. The Prime Minister stressed that his coalition is ready to collaborate.
Victor Yanukovych added he does not believe that the President will disband the parliament.
