Medvedko informed Yushchenko about what the Prosecutor General’s Office is doing after the president signed a decree dissolving parliament and the Verkhovna Rada passed its resolutions.

He said his office would not interfere with the political crisis and would act in accordance with the constitution to preserve law and order.

“Our priority is not to allow politicization of the country’s law enforcement agencies,” he said, adding that he was receiving information from the regions. “I would like to say that the criminogenic situation in Ukraine is quite stable and there are no emergencies.”
