An early parliamentary election will be held in Ukraine on May 27 and cannot be delayed, Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Ihor Pukshyn said at a media briefing on Wednesday, according to the President`s press-office.

Pukshyn refuted today’s rumors about a decree President Yushchenko is allegedly going to sign to delay the snap poll.

“I would like to say officially that such a decree is not being and cannot be prepared, for an article in the constitution clearly stipulates that an early election is held within sixty days,” he said, adding that Yushchenko would not change his decree disbanding parliament.

“I see no lawful ways to change the date of the election,” he said.
