Mykola Azarov’s government should be sacked due to a lack of professionalism that caused Ukraine’s economy to weaken, says Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"There is a provision in the Constitution that says that if the government does not meet professional requirements, is ineffective and its actions result in a total collapse of the economy, this government must be dismissed," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press conference today in Dnipropetrovsk.

Her political team is currently collecting signatures to hold a confidence vote in the current Cabinet of Ministers.

"We are proceeding according to the Constitution: we are talking with our partners in parliament and collecting signatures. We need 150 signatures to put this issue to a vote. I think that if there are deputies in parliament that haven’t been bought off and still serve the interests of the country, they are obligated to ‘save’ the new president from this absolutely unprofessional government," she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko provided the example of Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Tigipko, the leader of the Strong Ukraine party and developer of the Tax Code.

"He is not a reformer, which means his interests don’t coincide with the interests of society. He’s on the side of big corporate business and big banks and doesn’t have a say in the government. He’s merely a cog, a minority stake in this cabinet – meaning he’s weak."
