In 2010, Ukraine will sow spring crops throughout the areas of nearly 15.5 mln ha (without taking into account of feed crops), which completely corresponds to the index of 2010, declared Alexander Demidov, the Director of the Department of plant growing markets of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on December 23, according to AgriMarket.Info.

In particular, according to him, agrarians of Ukraine are expected to sow spring grains and leguminous plants for the harvest-2011 throughout 7.5 mln ha, including 3.2 mln ha of barley, 400 thsd ha of leguminous plants, 240 thsd ha of buckwheat, 2.8 mln ha of maize grain.

At the same time, A.Demidov did not excluded the possibility of enlarging of maize sowing areas to the level of 3 mln ha, due to the high profitability of the crop, which totals nearly 20%, as opposed to 10% of wheat profitability, according to estimations of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

According to A.Demidov, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food also forecasts that next year agrarians will sow technical crops throughout 6.6 mln ha, including 550 thsd ha of sugar-beet, and also 3.8 mln ha of sunflower seed, and 1 mln ha of soybean.
