Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the international community`s response and the support of the Ukrainian people is restraining the desire of the current government of Ukraine to bring her to trial on fabricated charges, according to Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"A mischievous cat would have already jumped onto the table and eaten everything on it, if it were not afraid. I would have been put in jail on trumped up charges a long time ago if they were not afraid of that segment of the Ukrainian population that has consistently supported me and of the international community, which closely monitors developments in Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko said in an interview with "Focus" magazine.
However, Yulia Tymoshenko did not try to predict the future of the criminal case against her. "I don`t know whether they will risk arresting me, whether they will risk rendering a guilty verdict. I know they really want to. They are able to do a lot today, but they can’t force me to be scared," she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko believes the main reason for prosecution is the desire by the authorities to remove her from the political arena. "It is important for them to prevent me and my political party from running in the next elections, so the courts that they fully control have to find me guilty before the elections. They will deal with the elections in a different way, by drafting legislation that completely eliminates the concept of fair elections," Yulia Tymoshenko said.
