Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said she plans to defend her right to a trial by jury, according to Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Our Constitution provides for trial by jury, and I will appeal to our judicial system for my case to be tried by a jury," Yulia Tymoshenko said on a program on the First National Channel.

The host, Savik Shuster, then asked the studio audience whether they would want the former prime minister of Ukraine to be tried. The audience was split into two groups: those who were born in Ukraine and artists. In the first group, 62% were in favor of a trial and 38% were against. 59% of the artists voted in favor of a trial, while 41% were against it. The second question was: "Do you believe the trial will be fair?" In the first group, 96% responded negatively, and only 4% positive. Among artists, 79% don’t believe it will be a fair trial, and only 21% believe it will be.

"I also want a trial because we have information to present, and that is why we went to the Pechersk Court. But it’s obvious that courts in Ukraine don’t judge but carry out orders," Yulia Tymoshenko said.
