He warmly thanked the dismissed official

Victor Yushchenko has officially dismissed his Deputy Chief of Staff, Anatoly Matviyenko, who had resigned yesterday, according to the President’s press-office.

During their meeting, the Head of State warmly thanked the dismissed official for everything he had done at his post as a coordinator of regional policies. Mr. Yushchenko said he hoped Mr. Matviyenko, who had recently been elected to the Verkhovna Rada, would continue to be one of the leading players of his team.
