Tymoshenko: we will fight unjust pressure against me and win
Batkivshchyna Party leader...
Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said that over the course of the next three days, as provided by law, she will select a new lawyer to replace Mykola Tytarenko, according to Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"A break has been announced in the trial until July 15, and by this day I will have lawyers and defenders who I hope will be given not two days to review the 5,000 pages in the criminal case, but two months to become acquainted with this case, as tradition and practice dictates," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists after today’s hearing.
Yulia Tymoshenko once again stressed that that court is violating her right to defense. According to her, the judge it trying to force her lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, to stop collecting evidence of her innocence and return to the trial. "The judge insisted that my defender Serhiy Vlasenko stop collecting evidence and facts, which he couldn’t do during the pre-trial investigation because the entire pre-trial investigation lasted only a few weeks. And now he’s demanding that my other defender also stop preparing professionally for my defense," she added.
According to her, she was forced to support Mykola Tytarenko’s statement that he is unable to fully perform his functions as lawyer because he has not given the opportunity to review the entire case file. "We would like to be professionally prepared to counter political repression, to counter the unfair pressure on me. And I believe that we will win this battle," she said.
"The judge is creating obstacles and violating the law. It’s clear that they’re hurrying only because during the press conference Yanukovych publicly set the objective to close this case quickly. They’re carrying out a very well prepared program to prevent me from defending myself in court. Not only was the case against me opened illegally, not only are they with every day opening even more absurd criminal cases, now they’re implementing a mechanism to deprive me of defense," Yulia Tymoshenko said.
