Yulia Tymoshenko’s defense lawyer Yuriy Sukhov has entered a motion with the court to give him enough time to review the case file, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"I ask that you take into consideration the fact that for objective reasons I’m not ready to question witnesses, not because I don’t want to, but because the time given by the court wasn’t enough to study the case records. I ask that you give me time to review them. I won’t say the exact period of time, let the court decide," Yuriy Sukhov said today in court.
He told the court that in 13 hours he was able to review 482 pages of the crime case. "I read almost the whole 16th volume and part of the 15th. I couldn’t review the materials from the trial because they haven’t been written up yet and this is necessary to prepare for witness examination."
"I petitioned the management of the court because it was impossible to work in the room where I was reading the case. There were about 20 people there and it was noisy,” he said, adding that everything in the room was being recorded on video. “Therefore, I had to cover my notes to ensure privacy," he said.
Despite all this, the judge rejected the request.
