Yulia Tymoshenko’s defense is demanding that the court announce a recess to give them time to review the 22nd volume of the criminal case against the former prime minister, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

“Yesterday the defense used its right to become acquainted with all the materials in the case file. The defense was given volumes 19, 20 and 21. When we asked if there are any additional volumes, the court office told us there weren’t. Therefore, the defense is asking for at least half an hour to review the new volume,” defense lawyer Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk said after Judge Rodion Kireyev finished reviewing the 21st volume and announced the review of the next, 22nd, volume of the criminal case.

However, the judge said that new volumes are put together after every court session and that the defense can file a motion after the completion of the review of all case materials. “The motion concerns volume 22, which the defense is not familiar with. Why file such a motion after all the materials are reviewed,” said Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk.

Yulia Tymoshenko’s defense once against objected to the actions of the presiding judge. “The judge violated article 257 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which says that the judge must review all materials in a way such that both sides in the litigation are familiar with the material that is read aloud in court,” emphasized Mykola Siryi.
