Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko reports that former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s health has worsened considerably, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
“I want to say that yesterday the health of Yulia Tymoshenko, who is being kept in jail at Lukyanivka for no reason, deteriorated sharply. She has a high temperature of close to 38. Despite this, she is not receiving any medical care,” Serhiy Vlasenko told reporters outside the Kyiv detention facility.
The lawyer said that in order to diagnose the ex-premier’s ailment, she needs to be examined by a doctor she trusts. Serhiy Vlasenko suggested that Yulia Tymoshenko’s symptoms may indicate angina, but stressed that he is not competent to speak on such matters. “Most likely all the symptoms and complications - high temperature, sore throat - point to angina. But I stress once again: I am not a doctor and can’t make a diagnosis,” he said.
“In order to diagnose the health of Tymoshenko, a doctor must be allowed to see her and she must be released from jail because she is being held there illegally,” he added.
After speaking with journalists, Serhiy Vlasenko said that he plans to meet with his client and discuss their closing arguments to the extent that Yulia Tymoshenko’s health allows.
Yulia Tymoshenko’s health began to deteriorate in jail, where she has been held since August 5, 2011 on fabricated charges of contempt of court. Yulia Tymoshenko and her lawyers have asked the court on numerous occasions to allow a doctor and nurse the ex-premier trusts examine her; however, their requests have fallen on deaf ears.
