President speaks with Canadian foreign minister

President Victor Yushchenko on Wednesday spoke by phone with Canada’s Foreign Minister Peter MacKay, according to the President`s press-office.

Yushchenko invited Canadian election observers to Ukraine and thanked MacKay for supporting Ukraine’s democratic transformations and for his contribution to the development of Ukrainian-Canadian relations.

The president praised Canada for its respect for the Holodomor victims, urging it to support Ukraine’s resolution to recognize the Great Famine of 1932-1933 as genocide at the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly.
