Defense lawyer Yuriy Sukhov has said that they will appeal the ruling by the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv even if the government decriminalizes the article under which former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has been charged, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Clearly there should be an acquittal in this case, but if there is a conviction, even if this article is decriminalized, a conviction will be appealed under any circumstances," Yuriy Sukhov told journalists today outside the Pechersk District Court.

He stressed that the ex-premier did not commit a crime. "Therefore, the decriminalization of this article shouldn’t affect the verdict," he said.

"The lack of any response from the government to the position of the civilized world in this case shows that this case has no relation to criminal prosecution," he added.
