President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that the trial of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko must be open, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The trial must be transparent so that everyone is aware of the essence of the charges," Mevlut Cavusoglu told Ukrainian journalists today in Strasbourg.

In his opinion, lack of transparency creates conditions to perceive this trial as politically motivated. "I am very sorry that the former prime minister and politician is in jail for some reason or another. She’s a former prime minister, she`s a politician, and it’s easy to say that this is a political case. That’s why I am urging the authorities and everyone else involved to ensure that this trial is transparency, for people to ultimately see whether this trial is political or not," he said.
