The Party of Regions has decided on the draft first ten of its electoral list.
According to the today`s issue of “Kommersant – Ukraine” daily, referring to the information from high official sources of the Party of Regions, the first ten includes, first of all, Prime Minister Victor Yanukovych, Top Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov, and Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Kluev.
Moreover, the places in the first ten are guaranteed to Party of Regions parliamentary faction leader Raisa Bogatyriova, lawmakers Taras Chornovil, Victor Tykhonov, Rinat Akhmetov and Vyacheslav Boguslayev. As it is generally known, all of them were in the first ten of the electoral list at the election in 2006. At the same time, Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Nina Karpachova (№2 in the electoral list in 2006), parliament members of the 5th convocation Georgiy Skudara (№3), Efym Zvyagylskyi (№9) and Borys Kolesnikov (№10) are likely not to be included into the top ten.
“Former chairman of SDPU(u) Victor Medvedchuk, incumbent Economics Minister, Chairman of the Party of Industrialists and Businessmen Anatoliy Kinakh, and deputy Minister of Justice, leader of Viche party Inna Bogoslovska will enter in the first 30 of the party`s electoral list” said the source. At the same time, the source affirms that even after amendments were introduced into the list, some 85% of the current members of parliament will stay in the Party of Regions faction after the election”.
At the same time, a Party of Regions representative, who wanted to stay undisclosed, noted that participation of the SDPU(u) representatives in the electoral list of the party, which was discussed early, is still under question. “The negotiations are being carried out, but SDPU(u) does not know whom to negotiate with. I know that they talked with Yanukovych and Kluyev. The problem is in Victor Medvedchuk. He is such an odious personality that his presence in the list is minus 10% of votes in the Southern and Eastern Oblasts”, explained the interlocutor of “Kommersant” newspaper.
After the yesterday`s presidium session of the Party of Regions political council, which discussed carrying out of the party convention, scheduled for August 4, and principles of forming the electoral list, parliament member of the Verkhovna Rada of the 5th convocation Michael Chechetov made an official statement: “The members of the political council and the political executive committee do not have any principal disagreements on the candidates, introduced into the list. But, I think that it is too early to speak about concrete personalities before the decision of the convention”, he said.
According to the words of M. Chechetov, the next reason why the Party of Regions has not determined the final variant of its electoral list is that they continue consultations with other political forces.
“Politicians of the country, who were not presented in the present parliament, can be included into the Party of Regions` electoral list”, he said. Asked to specify who will enter the renewed lists, M. Chechetov answered that the lists do not need to be renewed, because “the party just will be presented in the new parliament in a wider composition”.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Party of Regions` electoral list for the early election is about to be adopted at the convention of the party on August 4.
