Representatives of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament are troubled by the politically motivated prosecution of members of the opposition in Ukraine, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

This issues was discussed during a meeting today between Yulia Tymoshenko’s daughter, Yevgenia Tymoshenko, and Hryhoriy Nemyria, deputy head of Batkivshchyna, and the head and members of the parliamentary committee in Copenhagen.

The Danish MPs stressed that Denmark, as the country heading the EU, is seriously concerned by the prosecution of the opposition by the current government of Ukraine, in particular the politically motivated cases against Yulia Tymoshenko, Yuriy Lutsenko and others. They consider this to be particularly problematic ahead of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

The Danish MPs assured Yevgenia Tymoshenko and Hryhoriy Nemyria that they will do everything they can on the parliamentary level to correct the situation.

In turn, Yevgenia Tymoshenko thanked them for their support and told them about her mother’s health and the conditions of her imprisonment.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all political factions in the Danish parliament.
